Who am I?
I am a published author, freelance copywriter, travel writer & photographer, and UC-trained master gardener based in Northern California.
My soon-to-be-published book Things My Daddy Daughter Taught Me chronicles the many lessons I learned raising a rebellious teenager. It is a parenting memoir I wish I had read at the beginning of my journey as a father. An e-book version will be available through this website soon.
My travel stories cover local, regional, national, and international destinations. I hope you will find my travel experiences to be informative, interesting (duh), descriptive, and enticing enough to get you excited about following in my footsteps or breaking away on your own. Travel topics will include places I have explored from the familiar to the exotic, from beaches to mountains, from local interests to global significance.
My wandering experiences include traveling full-time in a motorhome for a year and a half (border to border and coast to coast), once visiting 11 European countries in 11 weeks, climbing Mt. Whitney, fly-fishing beautiful and powerful rivers in the Pacific Northwest, and more.
What am I doing here?
Drawing on my career as a long-time social studies educator with a Master’s degree in Russian studies, I will describe destination history, social structure, government & politics, and economics. Themes include hiking, camping, food and wine, attractions, outdoor adventures, and even local gardens and cultivation techniques.
I have been published in local print and online media and national publications, such as the Mariposa Gazette, San Luis Obispo Tribune, Sierra News Online, Escapees Magazine, RV Life, Travel Post Monthly, and others. I am on social media, including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
So, as I gear up this post-teacher retirement “career” of mine, follow along. Let me know what you think and what you’d like me to include.
